Since 2002 Rhino has been a
close studio partner. Notably, Temerity Pipeline has been used early on by Rhino
to produce a series of real-time demos featuring a heroine named
Ruby to showcase
the capabilities of the latest graphics hardware from
ATI Technologies. Each of these demos
was similar to creating a short film with more than 100 shots and multiple characters
and sets. Rhinofx needed to deliver large Maya scenes containing animation
data for the entire demo to ATI which would convert these giant scenes into a form
suitable for running on their real-time demo engine. By using Temerity
Pipeline, Rhino was able to have many different modelers, animators and lighters
working on component elements and shots simultaneously. The combined
Maya scenes delivered to ATI where constructed on the fly using Temerity Pipeline's
unique workflow management features and queuing capabilities without the need for
artist intervention. Furthermore, Temerity Pipeline's advanced revision
control features enabled Rhino to easily coordinate changes to the hundreds of
assets involved in the project.
Rhinofx has now used Temerity Pipeline for virtually all projects they produce
ranging from commercials to visual effects for film and television.
Even small projects involving just a few artists are still managed with Temerity
Pipeline because its sophisticated queuing, revision control and asset management
features make rapid delivery schedules more manageable. Many useful features of
Temerity Pipeline have been created or refined in response to dialog between Rhino's
staff and Temerity. This collaboration is ongoing and will continues to yield
benefits to both companies and the wider Pipeline user community.
